The Team Behind the Footys
The AFL Grand Final is the biggest event on AFL calendar. Each year the team at Sherrin craft a unique game ball the week of the match. This ball is made specifically for the Grand Final, and features key details, including the team names, venue and date.
Let’s head inside the factory and meet some of the key Sherrin team members that help handcraft the balls for the biggest game of the year:
ALEX – SHERRIN PRINTING COORDINATOR:
Alex is our Sherrin Printing Coordinator and has worked with us for 12 years, printing logos and designs on all of our game balls, but most importantly the grand final ball.
“Being someone who contributes to the printing of the Grand Final Ball feels like my skills make history every year. I’m so proud that I get to see three of my favourite passions come together for Grand Final Day; Art, Printing, and Football.”
JOSH – SHERRIN PRODUCTION WORKER:
Josh is one of our Sherrin Production Workers and has been with us for 22 years! Josh works on a number of different stages within the process, mainly helping to prep the leather panels and getting them ready for the stitching stage.
“I feel so proud to have our hard work displayed for millions to see on Grand Final Day. This is the best week of the year for us after a long season and watching that ball be kicked around really fires us up!”
CARL – SHERRIN PRODUCTION WORKER:
Carl is another one of our Sherrin Production Workers and has been working with us for 16 years. Carl works on a number of different stages in the process, with a focus on stitching, turning out and lacing.
“It means so much for my hard work to be seen by so many people. I feel proud knowing that I helped make that ball.”
